ncit_10yearsNational Centre for Information Technology (NCIT) which was established on the 25th of March 2003 by an initiative by the then Minister of Communication Sciences and Technology Honorable Midhath Hilmy celebrates its 10th Anniversary today. NCIT is the main government agency for the development, promotion and propagation of Information Technology (IT) in the Maldives.

In Celebration NCIT launched three new e-services today, namely eCounter, eSchool and Online Vehicle Domain Bidding service. The eCounter services aims to replace the physical counter of government Organizations and allows citizens to submit applications online. eSchools systems allows Ministry of Education and Schools to generate enrollment and institutional reports, enabling them to take informed decisions and plan future development of the sector. The system enables teachers to maintain class attendances capturing one of the most essential educational statistics from its sources. Online vehicle Domain service allows citizens to bid online for vehicle domains which is designed to provide transparency and increase participation in providing the service.

During its decade long service to the Government of Maldives and its citizens, NCIT has achieved several objectives stated on its mandate, reached good milestones and achievements. Some noteworthy developments and projects by NCIT are Government E-letter Management Services, E-gov service, ICT Incubator program, e-citizens, Tourism Information Management Systems, e-Fass, Xpat System, Drafting IT legislation, other policies and standards. Last year NCIT also has received the CSC 3Q Innovation Award for Government E-letter Management System (GEMS) and Transport Online system.
